Scrivenor's note - since the breaking of the Imperium and the advent of the Great Rift, portions of this document may be inaccurate or impossible to formally verify. Addendums have been made where possible, but the Officio Cartographicae cannot be liable for any inconsistencies between this Primer and the physical situation of the Nemeyan Sector.
As the Imperial traveller journeys from Segmentum Solar into Obscura, making one’s way via the ancient tech-pilgrim’s path that once ran from Voss to Agripinaa to Cypra Mundi, one reaches the shadowy marches of the Segmentum. The dark void beyond the Eye is notable for the Scarus and Calixis sectors, wherein [... REDACTED...] - beyond the scope of this volume, of course, and of which the less said the better.
Much of the Imperium's savage fringe is sparsely-populated, blockaded, or simply inaccessible in these dark times, but several weeks’ voyage beyond the traveller’s last remembrance of the Pax Imperialis, however, one’s vessel will receive the welcome vox-broadcast of ancient machine spirits clad in void-hardened hulls; self-synchronous devices that stand in eternal vigilance.
Looking into the benighted void that lies ahead, one realises that one has passed over the border into the Nemeyan Sector of the glorious Imperium of Mankind. It consists of eight systems, united by warp routes and shared governance and defence, and was originally brought into Imperial Compliance during the mythical age of the Great Crusade, when the Emperor walked amongst His subjects. Since then, in spite of the small number of systems it encompasses, it has become something of an Imperial bastion on the very edge of the outer dark, boasting a robust economy and formidable defences.
Notably, the Nemeyan sector has not yet felt the open warfare that has ravaged much of Imperium Nihilus, but that does not mean it is safe. Warp travel remains risky without the beacon of the Astronomican; ships are often damaged in transit. Curiously, there is a patch of warp calm in the sector that has allowed easier passage than is found in much of Imperium Nihilus.
In these uncertain times, the noble houses of many primary worlds have begun to jockey for power, threatening the stability of the wider Nemeyan sector, and the reader is advised that at least two representatives of the Holy Ordos are reported to be operating in the sector.
There are four major sites of interest in the sector: the capital world, a forge world, a knight world, and an artificial world of terrible danger and mysterious origins.
